It's just one design for a condenser, which focuses the light up through the slide to get the best image picture. You might want to Google around for a manual for that scope. In the mean time, put something on a slide and try out each one through all it's adjustments and see what you get.
Looks like you got a good scope though. I found something recently that will make cleaning your lenses much easier too. Since I started as a photographer, I used these on my cameras first, but they work better than anything else I have found to clean microscope lenses. Google LensPen, and be sure to buy the one that was made for cell phone lenses, then maybe the larger one for your condenser and eyepieces.
